James Calls It!

When is the last time someone called out sinful behavior in front of you? It happened at our house yesterday–it’s a normal part of life. If that’s a one-sided conversation at your house, something’s wrong. James says so.

James says, “if you show partiality, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors” (James 2:9). We are all guilty of treating people differently than we should. But to habitually, unjustly accuse and punish others for breaking one’s own standard is wrong. “So speak so and so act as those who are to be judged by the law of liberty. For judgment will be merciless to the one who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment” (James 2:12-13).

A woman or child may be unable to exact justice, but God can. And God will.

I pray He uses us, His body, His people, His Spirit, to begin the work of lifting the burden, providing help, hope, and a path to life and liberty.
